Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is designed to assist eligible households pay for energy services, including gas, electric and furnace repair assistance.

North Lawndale Employment Network is proud to partner with the Community and Economic Development Association of Cook County, Inc. (CEDA) to provide a variety of assistance programs for eligible households to preserve their energy services.

These programs include: 

  • Water Bill Assistance

  • Gas and Electric Bill Assistance

  • People's Gas Share the Warmth Program 

  • ComEd Residential Hardship Program 

Each program has specific income and eligibility requirements and require applicants to provide required documentation. These documents include:

  • Proof of 30-day income for all residents over 18 (wages, Social Security benefits, TANF, AABD, Unemployment)

  • Your most recent gas, electric, or water bills

  • Social Security numbers for all household members, if available

 

*Undocumented residents are also welcome to apply

The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

 

The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is a federal program that provides eligible customers with a one-time payment towards your energy bills. Benefits are available once per program year, September 2021 through May 2022, or until funds are exhausted. No matter if you rent or own your home, LIHEAP offers financial help to limited-income households to pay heat and electric bills.
