2021 Sweet Beginnings Tea

Now Is The Time: Empowerment, Empathy, Equity and Inclusion

We invite you to join us on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at 6:00 pm for our 16th Annual Sweet Beginnings Tea as

we celebrate the power we share in this moment to create lasting change on Chicago’s West Side. Each year, the

Sweet Beginnings Tea raises critical unrestricted funds for our programs, which provide our clients with the skills

and resources they need to secure and retain meaningful employment opportunities. For the first time, the Sweet

Beginnings Tea will be hosted as a virtual event that is free and open to the public, which is made possible by the

generosity of our event sponsors.

At 7:15 pm, we will host an exclusive Fireside Chat for our event sponsors and VIP guests with Peter Scher, Head of

Global Philanthropy at JP Morgan Chase and NLEN’s President & CEO Brenda Palms Barber. Together, they will

discuss Corporate Social Justice and its role, challenges, and benefits in community wealth building. Enjoy your

favorite tea and join us for a meaningful conversation about the power of philanthropy and creating a corporate

culture that embraces empowerment, empathy, equity, and inclusion, of people of color, men and women

returning from prison and the many others who are excluded from “the promises of democracy.”
